Mom and Me

I just came back from a funeral. A member of my church passed away at the age of 81. She leaves a grieving husband and 5 sons. Not matter how old you are it is never easy to lose your Mom. She was a great lady and will be sorely missed.

As I sat there with my own Mom today I thought about how much I love and admire her. And I want to tell her how much. My Mom is not your average Mom. She is the most caring, kind, loving and compassionate woman. My siblings and I adore her. She has been to hell and back over the last year and a half but she has handled herself with grace and dignity. She has a faith that cannot be shaken and trusts in the Lord. The love we feel for our Mother is unsurpassed. We know how extremely blessed we are to have her.

It's That Time Again!

Special thanks to hubby who always leaves me a coffee at the door when he leaves for work - love that man!

It's "Roll Up The Rim" time once again - a chance for us Tim junkies to perhaps get a free coffee...it may take 100 tries but what the heck?

P.S. My deepest sympathies to you who reside in the U.S. and cannot get a Tim's freely like we here can...

Two Wolves...

My sister sent this to me in an email and I thought it was worth sharing:

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, "My son, the battle is between two "wolves" inside all of us. One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his
grandfather, "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you
feed."

Hey Janet...

zzz....

I don't know about you, but lately I get SO tired around supper time. Too many late nights I guess. However, I just had the most DELICIOUS 7 minute sleep. The kids were playing outside and I cuddled up our sectional sofa...I was watching t.v. but then fell asleep. Wow - 7 minutes later when the phone rang, I woke up actually not knowing where or what time it was. Now THAT's a power nap!

My Three Amigos

Call me weird, but my idea of a good time would be to have lunch with these 3 guys. You would think at my age I would choose Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Tom Cruise (oh, wait - he's crazy...) but NO! This is what I want. Lunch in NYC with Tony Bennet, Larry King and Regis Philbin. Is this too much to ask? Will I be able to make it happen before one of them croaks? Time is of the essence here! All I know is, where there's a will there's a way...

Dear Martha,

An open letter to Martha Stewart from Donald Trump...

"Dear Martha:

It's about time you started taking responsibility for your failed version of The Apprentice. Your performance was terrible in that the show lacked mood, temperament and just about everything else a show needs for success. I knew it would fail as soon as I first saw it – and your low ratings bore me out.

Between your daughter, with her one word statements, your letter writing and, most importantly, your totally unconvincing demeanor, it never had a chance – much as your daytime show is not exactly setting records.

Despite this, I did nothing but positively promote you. Your only response to your failed show was that, "I thought that I was supposed to fire Donald Trump!" You knew this was not true – NBC would never fire me when The Apprentice was, for a good period of time, the #1 show on television and my recent finale, where I hired Randal, was the #2 show for the week, easily beating the competing finale of Amazing Race and others. Even Mark Burnett said, "Thank God that didn't happen," when asked about firing Donald Trump.

Essentially, you made this firing up just as you made up your sell order of ImClone. The only difference is – that was more obvious. Putting your show on the air was a mistake for everybody – especially NBC.

In any event, my great loyalty to you has gone totally unappreciated.

Sincerely,
Donald J. Trump

P.S. Be careful or I will do a syndicated daytime show, perhaps called The Boardroom, and further destroy the meager ratings you already have!"

It's Like An Addiction...

C'Mon Spring

I was browsing through old pictures on my computer and came across this favourite of mine from last Spring. I woke Jack up in the morning and could hear something scratching on his window sill, I pulled up the blinds to find this little guy scared to death and trying desperately not to fall. Well, he fell. I ran downstairs to the window directly below and there he was. I was lucky enough to have my camera within arms' length. Right after that his Momma came in to rescue him and he flew away for the first time. Amazing.

Now I REALLY Don't Like Pepsi!

This is so wrong in so many ways. First off, this is not an ad that is running in North America. (I think that's obvious) No, it's not Chinese...it's an Australian ad. What are these people thinkin'? I studied advertising in college and I can tell you there are at least 4 MAJOR things wrong with this ad. The first one being BLATANTLY obvious!

Good for a laugh though...

What A Difference A Day Makes...

It's funny how you can get yourself worked up. My disappointment with Jack put me into a tailspin last night that had me quite upset over, well - everything. Tears came easy over worry about a neighbour's bad health and the pain I feel over losing my brother Vic. I hate the fact that he can't be here to make us smile, make us and laugh and to just to be a part of our family. When I open the flood gates, they go wide open. After a good "don't dare-look-in-the-mirror-at-your-distorted-face" cry I slept like a baby from 7:30 p.m. until 8:30 a.m. this morning. (and I could've slept longer if someone would have let me) The buses were cancelled so Jack and Elle accompanied Juergen and I on our jaunt to Ottawa. Not exactly whate we had in mind but what the heck. A change of scene did me good after a hectic week. We tackled some business, shopped and had lunch at our favourite Thai restaurant.

I want to thank all who replied to yesterday's post. :) How nice to come home today and read those positive thoughts. I do know one thing - my children aren't perfect and they never will be. Yes, boys will be boys....

But I told Jack, there is no such thing as "gently" kicking someone in the shins...

Job Assessment

Feeling kinda low today. Jack got in trouble (again) at school and I tend to take these things very personally. This is the way I figure it - I'm a stay-at-home Mom so if I am producing "bad" kids I must be doing a bad job of rearing them. This is my job ... and I'm failing! I don't want Jack to be known as a problem child or one who is constantly being sent down to the Prinicpal's office. Very frustrating.

Ugh

So, life is back to "normal" around here. Normal meaning I have no buffet breakfast waiting for me each morning! Ugh.
I have been trying to catch up on housework and laundry, which as a Gemini, I think I am allergic to. More ugh.
Creatively I am tapped out and don't even know why I'm bothering to blog today. Perhaps just because I know Jamie will comment. And that will make me smile ;)

Fun Fun Fun!

I'm baacckkk! We had a great time relaxing with family - my brother Mike and his fiance Trish surprised us by showing up the second week. Ellie met a friend from England - Evie - and her parents got married which explains why the guys are wearing leaf ties above. Fun was had by all - including a Monster Truck Safari and a swim with the dolphins (my dream!)
