Halloween Tricks and Treats

I won!

The wonderful and talented Vanessa Valencia from
A Fanciful Twist sent me my Halloween Tricks and Treats package (I won a drawing on her blog) in the mail and it arrived just in the nick of time!

I am always amazed at the generosity of bloggers and Vanessa sure pulled out all of the stops...

Just look at the loot! One bag for Tricks and one bag for Treats....

A cool, glittered BEWARE sign, the neatest green glittery bug and feather...

A decadent "fake" cake that truly does look good enough to eat...

Yummy maple and gingerbread cookies (I am now officially addicted to these) and some postcards with Vanessa's gorgeous drawings on them...

These are amazing, click on them for a close-up - the details are divine! You would swear these are not one dimensional...

Thank you Vanessa from the bottom of my heart - I love it all!

Thanks so much everyone for your kind and lovely comments on my blog over the past few days, what a thrill! And the response to my hand-made ornaments was fantastic - thanks to all who ordered some. I am busy preparing new items to list on the site and will have some neat stuff to offer.

For all of you who are watching DWTS...WHAT WAS THAT?! Can you believe that Sabrina Bryan was eliminated last night? Truth be told, I really don't know who she is (still!) but that girl could dance! I was heartbroken to see she won't make it to the finals. She had drive, determination and I think she was a great role model for kids. I hope she knows how much she'll be missed....

Channelling Mr. Furley

Remember Mr. Furley on Three's Company? Remember that look he'd get when he was proud, he'd scrunch his face up, snort a little and almost strut like a peacock? Well, I can't help it but that's ME this morning...

I'm pullin' a "Mr. Furley"!

Check it out...Kim from Today's Creative Blog, a blog I absolutely love, has featured ME! 'Lil 'ol me!

This is a blog I visit every day because Kim scours the internet to find great wonderful and interesting blogs to feature. She does all of the work! If you know of a blog that you think should be featured be sure and visit her right here and tell her so! I am so proud to have that blinkie on my blog, I can't tell ya. :)

O.K. I am putting the last touches on my Halloween costume. I have forbidden Janet to come by my blog today as we always take our kids out together and I like to surprise her. Yes, I am going as "Miss Guided" and I hope to serve my nation well....

And now let's fast-forward Halloween and get straight to Christmas. Remember my autumnal birdcage? Well, the ornaments have taken over! This is such a easy decorating idea. This birdcage opens from the top so I just added some silver tinsel to the bottom and filled it full! I added some of my vintage-style ornaments to the outside...

...and I took this old chandelier prism and trimmed it with real silver glass glitter. I am a firm believer in using chandelier prisms in everything!

Oh no, Santa's in the slammer! This is a great way to keep your favorite ornaments safe where little hands - and paws! - can't get to them.

My 12 year old son does not have a costume yet and I have to go out and try to put something together. Do you know how hard it is to find a costume for a 12 year old, PICKY boy...the day before Halloween? Clearly I have not thought this through. Wish me luck!

It's 11:00 a.m. and I am STILL in my P.J.'s

Oh well, I am sacrificing for my art! lol

My mother had given me these rhinestone rings a while back and I knew I loved them but I had no idea what I was going to do with them...

Same for these vintage light reflectors. Heaven forbid I should use them for what they were intended - that would be too easy!...

So I fiddled and played with them and finally it came to me! Vintage Christmas tree decorations! And they came together like they were meant to be that way. They sparkle and shimmer beautifully in the light.

Some didn't want to have anything to do with the reflectors. That's o.k. To each their own. I like the way these are more simplistic...

...you know I had to sneak Paris in there somewhere!

So I am happily making these vintage beauties and now have a few listed in my shop.

Vintage Christmas

A little early? ... Perhaps! But it's always a good time to be inspired I say!

Creative Minds...

I always find great inspiration on the internet and thought I would share some unique finds today. Flickr is a wonderful place to see not only great photos, but to get inspired by unique artisans. I came across
this lady the other day and was completely stunned by her talent. She has made a seed repository book...

...out of two old vacuum cleaner bags.
Can you believe it? I just love it!

Margo over at Robolady is a talented gal too. She made this beauty...

...an "Euscutcheon Creation" as she calls it. This speaks to me!

And then there's the talented Miss Fifi who ALWAYS has the most fabulous ideas...

...like painting this pumpkin and adding rhinestones for that added "bling" effect". I never would have thought of that!

What a joy to wake up in the morning with a steaming cup of coffee, while browsing through my favorite places to visit on the internet. I always leave feeling inspired and full of ideas. Thank-you ladies for inspiring me today!

Free Shipping!

I am slowly but surely starting to add new and unique items to my Hope Jar website. One of my favorite categories is "Holidays" where I will be offering up interesting decorations and items for the holiday season.

Like these vintage inspired holiday sap buckets....

Aren't they sweet? (click on picture for a more detailed view)

For a limited time I am offering free shipping to the U.S. and Canada. You can find them by clicking right *HERE*

They come to you filled with silver tinsel shredding and make great hostess gifts, just throw in a bottle of wine in and you're good to go! I think they'd also look terrific lined up on a holiday table.

The vintage style holiday cards are *glittered* and so pretty!

Well, as usual I've got a million and one things to do and not enough time to do them in. Isn't that always the case?... :)

Happy Birthday Jackie!

I can't remember whose blog I found this on but it certainly fills the bill with me today. I had to fight the urge to go back to bed on this dark and rainy day and coffee is the only thing that saved me!

A very nice gal, Laurie from
Tip Junkie emailed me this morning to say she had featured the Hope Jar on her blog. How sweet! Here, in her own words is the premise of her blog:

"I'm going to try to do most of my Christmas Shopping with my fellow bloggers this year. Please leave a comment if you make or sell a product! I'll post it on my blog and Newsletter for everyone to see."

What a great idea, huh? I am bookmarking her right now as I just know I will be purchasing a lot of my Christmas gifts online from the comfort of my home, in my jammies and wooden shoe slippers.

(Hubby hates them ~ Wilbur loves them)

I mean, really, why fight the crowds to do your holiday shopping when you can find everything online?

Did you see Marie Osmond faint on DWTS last night? The poor thing, I think everyone thought she was kidding. She was so out of breath after her dance that I think she just hyper-ventilated too much. She has said publicly (whether she was joking or not, I don't know) that she has been starving herself for this competition and I'm sure that would have a lot to do with it as well. It's a live show and I guess anything can happen, but it sure was a shock to see. I'm really enjoying the show this season as all of the couples are very talented. Well, almost all ... I guess all the money in the world can't buy everything!... ;)

My New Look!

I feel like I have been re-born! My new look is the work of
Sara at Sadie Olive Designs. I love it! But that's not all! Just check out my new Hope Jar website. A total re-vamp there too! Not just in the overall look but I have expanded the site to carry other goodies too. In a few short weeks I will be carrying some neat stuff - both vintage and new - and perfect for special gift giving.

Anyway, if you are looking to update your blog or website, Sara is the girl to call. She has great design ideas. Thanks Sara!

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for... (ha ha) The winner of my Second Year Blogiversary:

Rhoda from Southern Hospitality!

Congrats Rhoda! Please email me your address and I will get your prize pack out to you. :)

I went treasure hunting on the weekend and thought found a whole pile of these vintage "pearl" necklaces...

Vintage little gems that will soon be up on my Hope Jar website. If you like the look of pearls for less, these sweet imposters do the trick! These would be great to buy for your friends and daughters. Just look at the pretty little rhinestone clasps...

Wouldn't they make the cutest stocking stuffers?...

Is It Friday Already?

Bring on the busy! I am now functioning at warp speed!

Check out the wonderful vintage litho I found thrifting. The colors are fab and I love the hydrangeas and pansies on it.

I've been busy making up some different types of Christmas decorations...for this one I used an old Italian frame and vintage wallpaper along with a scan of an old postcard that I had. The frame has a hanger on the back so you can put it wherever you want. :)

I have a project going on right now that I am sooooo excited about. Will fill you in soon. Have a great weekend everyone ... p.s. don't forget to enter my Giveaway!

Thursday's Thrift Store Finds

This post is dedicated to some of my fellow junkers! I love going to their blogs to see what treasures they have found.

Margo over at RoboLady always has fabulous ideas on her blog. Rhoda, a new blogging friend from Southern Hospitality always has the best finds and great pics too! I'm lovin' another new junking blog I found just recently - called fresh vintage. These are just a few of my fav's for today. Don't want to link you all out or anything!

...Do I need another bottle? Well, yes, if it looks like this!
(rehab-schmehab Chunks!)

So here's the haul- all this found on the way to do groceries...

The old white wooden box was $1.00, as was the glass jar with old decal on it. Oh, that's two jars for today! I love the little tin trays - they were made in Japan and have hangers on the back of them - I'm going to transform them into Christmas decorations of some sort. I just noticed that everything matches in this photo - weird how that happens, huh?

Check out the vintage buttons I found at V.V! Glass with pink roses in 'em. *Heart* ... *Swooning* ... I'll put them up on ebay later...

And to think I slightly hesitated over this one...a huge piano scarf/shawl/tablecloth - whatever it is! It's gorgeous with it's vivid pink and red roses and long black fringe. Not exactly my style though so it'll go up for bids too.

O.K. So I've made up a little prize pack to celebrate. Just leave a comment and you'll be entered to win - simple as that! I'll pick the winner's name late Sunday (October 21st) and announce Monday.

Since my anniversary happens to fall on Halloween I thought I'd throw in this cute little sign...

It's all about the bling baby! Here is a tiny bottle of real glass glitter to beautify your projects (the Mom in me must warn - real glass - not for kids!!)

Also, I couldn't resist these really cute and shabby stickers...

And finally, this set of Fall themed napkins. Love the colors on these! I know I'll be throwing in extra goodies when this prize pack is sent out so there will definitely be some surprises too!
