My Trusty Steed

Well, he doesn't look to happy here but actually he just came back from the groomer's after a wonderful wash and trim. What a blessing this pup is. Always there for me (sometimes too much so!)

I feel so disconnected from the internet right now. I have had no time, or desire to blog with all that is happening to my family. My nephew Colin is still in critical condition in Edmonton and I may be flying out in a few weeks to see him. The doctors say his recovery will take 3-4 months.

Hubby is doing well and will have his wires removed from his jaw next week - he has been a model patient in the fact that he has been very patient throughout this whole ordeal. Never again does he wish to eat through a straw or syringe.

My father is at home now after his mini-stroke and is still working on getting full use of his left hand again. He has a great attitude!

To add insult to what seems like a lot of injury, my son Jack broke his arm last Thursday at school. No cast but he must wear a sling for 3 weeks and can do no physical activity (soccer/gym class) til the new year.

I do have some good news in all of this....are you ready for it?

I am going to be a grandmother.

No word of a lie! I'm not even 40 yet! My 25 year old step daughter Tarah is due in May - the month her father and I both share a birthday!

Tarah - Summer '08

We are very happy and looking forward to spoiling a grandchild.

A parent's best revenge. :)

Joy!! How great to finally hear from you again! My hubby & I were just at Starbucks and talking about you -- he was asking if I'd heard anything new from you. I mentioned that on your last post, comments were not enabled and I was so worried about you. SO, I just got back home and checked online and there was a new post! Thank you! Oh, you will be THE hippest granny ever!! ;)

Joy,

First, I hope your family recovers from all the mishaps. I know you are going to be a great grandmother... a grandmother who is great. Sorry,
Also, I have three of those trusty steeds and they adore me but could I go to the restroom without a dog....Your family is in my prayers.

Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking about you and miss your inspired creations, and know you have your plate full.
Isn't it wonderful how spending a few minutes with a freshly groomed dog can make you smile?
Congrats on your upcoming grandparenthood!

Finally! Some joy for Joy! A new baby coming into the world of a family that has had more than enough the past little while. And sweet Wilbur - ever faithful pooch. I love it when you post pictures of him! Will continue to send prayers up for your nephew.

Joy, so good to "hear" from you again! And just look at that Wilbur...how handsome is he?? Congratulations on your news! Young grandmothers ROCK (my mom was a grandmother at 37)! My daughter has been SO fortunate to have had my mom so active and healthy and willing her entire life! There's something to be said for having those babies when you're young! Oh, the joy on your horizon. You're so deserving...

Congratulations on becoming a Grandma...or Nana?(Oma?)
I certainly pray that your family recovers from all of those mishaps.
BTW, do you make Hope Jars for kids? I got one from Carol(which I love btw)and my boys loving picking out of the hope jar. Thought it would be cool to have one for kids dealing with grief...
Anyhow hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

Pets are such a comfort. My cat is now 15, and she got my through a terrible, depressing divorce. She loves me no matter what!

Sorry about your nephew and dad and son! Man, when it rains, it pours! I'd say your done for the next few years!

Congrats on hubby's jaw healing so nicely.

Congrats on a grandbaby. Shoo, I got such a late start (I'm 41) and my kids are only 5 and 2 1/2. I hope I can be a spry grandmother!!

Oh my dear Joy, I had NO IDEA what all had been going on until reading your email note to me and heading over here to catch up. I'm sure it's sheer determination that's keeping you together, but whatever it is I hope it serves you well, and know that Rudy and I are here for ya...as well as my "other son", Wilbur!

I'll have to do some serious blog catch up to get filled in on everything. Big hugs and slobbery dog smooches to you. (((J)))

So much has been going on in your families life as well as yours. I will certainly keep you ALL in my prayers. Praying for continued recovery for your dad, your husband and now your son. I am also praying for a complete and speedy recovery for your nephew. Whew...it really has seemed to all pile up at one time...but I believe you are handling this with much grace and courage. Your dad will heal quickly with a great attitude...that's half the battle. I don't blame your husband for not wanting to partake of straws or syringes in the near future. Bless your son's heart about the arm...not even a cast for folks to sign...why HE should PROTEST!! LOL!

OH! and to be a grandmother...I must say...I'm a bit envious...(not really I am totally thrilled for you and will live the life of grandmother through you!) I mean seriously, after all I am well past 40...in fact my daughter just turned 29...and NO children from her and her hubbin. My son turns 26 on the 21st...and he and his wife don't plan on any children for at least 2 or 3 more years. GEEZ...Don't they know...I had them young...so I could be a young grandmother...sheesh...they're just messing everything up! OH well...it will happen when it happens...unless they get so old and their ovaries dry up and then no one wins!! HA!!

Blessings and I'm keeping you all in my prayers.
